Discussing "AI for good" with Vilas Dhar
Overview:
Vilas Dhar is a global expert on artificial intelligence (AI) policy and a champion for equity in a tech-enabled world. As President and Trustee of the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, he leads the world's largest philanthropic organization dedicated to building public interest technology.
He was appointed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres to the UN High-Level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, Vilas represents the U.S. in the Global Partnership on AI and is a member of the OECD Expert Working Group on AI Futures. He also contributes to the Global Future Council on AI at the World Economic Forum and serves on the Advisory Council at Stanford's Human-Centered AI Institute. His course, Ethics in the Age of Generative AI, has reached over 300,000 learners worldwide through LinkedIn Learning, making it the most-viewed course on AI ethics globally.
Vilas is a lawyer, technologist, investor, and philanthropist. He holds a J.D. from NYU School of Law, an M.P.A. from the Harvard Kennedy School, and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Illinois, where he was named University Chancellor’s Scholar.
